Handling & Storing Fresh Bluberries:

From farm to retail, fresh blueberries are hand-picked and packed within 24 hours of harvest and shipped to distribution.  Generally fresh packaged blueberries are plump, firm, free of leaves, stems and other debris and slightly acidic in taste.  Fully riped berries are a deep blue to a dark purple color. The light grey wax on fresh blueberries is called "bloom" that typically signifies quality due to the careful handling by the producer.  Properly covered fresh blueberries can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 - 10 days.  Prior to consumption or use, soak blueberries in a container of cool water or lightly rinse in a colander.

Handling & Storing Frozen Bluberries:

To enjoy this nutritious fruit throughout the year, fresh blueberries can be frozen.  To freeze fresh blueberries:

1.Place washed fresh blueberries individually (single layer) on a flat pan or cookie sheet.

2.Put in freezer until frozen.

3.Transfer frozen berries into an airtight Ziploc or sealed plastic bag or plastic container.

4.Before use rinse lightly in a colander.

Use as needed.
